Late goals, Perreault's goaltending, allow BSM to claim OT win at Eden Prairie

Johnny Raymond scored the game-winning goal with 30 seconds remaining in overtime.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- After two scoreless periods, Benilde-St. Margaret's and Eden Prairie combined for four goals but the Red Knights scored with 30 seconds remaining in overtime for a 3-2 junior varsity win.

All of the game's scoring came in the final 12 minutes of play, with the visitors striking first with a tally from Connor Timmins with seven minutes, five seconds to play in regulation.

However, the hosts struck for the next two goals, the latter with 3:20 to play seeming to wrap up the game.

The Red Knights tied the game, just over a minute later, as Riley Shannon knotted the scored and send the game to overtime.

Despite have to kill a two-minute penalty, BSM dominated the overtime session and Johnny Raymond ended it when he stepped out of the penalty, took a pass from Will Krusemark along the right wing boards, near the EP blue line, and broke in alone, and scored on a wrist shot from below the top of the right circle.

It was goalie Matthew Perreault who put on the real show for the the Red Knights, stopping the first 29 shots he faced while finishing with 33 stops to earn the win.

Next up for BSM is a return home to Metro West Conference play as it hosts Chaska, Thursday, Jan. 18, at 5 p.m.
