Second meeting results in second tie.

Jalen Long stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced, including six in overtime to preserve the 1-1 tie.

Jack Sims scored in the middle of the first period and Benilde-St. Margaret's would lead for over 26 minutes but, in the end, the Red Knights' junior varsity skated to a 1-1 overtime tie with Wayzata.

It was the second tie between the two teams in six days as they played to a 2-2 tie during the Sports Authority Holiday Hockey Classic, a game in which BSM advanced to the consolation championship via a shootout win.

The Red Knights outshot the Trojans, 11-4, in the opening period and took the lead eight minutes, 48 seconds into the contest when Sims pounced on a loose puck and banged home his third goal of the season.

BSM would lead for more than half the game but, in the third period, Wayzata turned the tables on its host, outshooting the Red Knights, 8-2.

The Trojans evened the game when Jake Scattergood finally beat BSM goalie Jalen Long with 9:45 to play.

In the overtime period, Wayzata outhot BSM, 6-2, in the opening 2:21 before going on a power play for the remainder of the game when Matt Arnason received a major penalty for boarding.

The Red Knights killed the final 2:39 of the game without allowing a shot, however, and the teams left the ice without a decision.

Long made 21 saves in the game, 13 of which came in the final 20 minutes, as the teams each had 22 shots on goal.

BSM has two games on tap next weekend, travelling to Mendota Heights, Thursday, for a 5:30 p.m. game with St. Thomas Academy, before returning home for a 5 p.m. meeting, Saturday, with Minnetonka.
