BSM winger notches second three-goal outing in eight days.

Patric Rooney stopped 14 of 15 shots to record his third win in four decisions.

Last Tuesday, the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity end a six-game winless streak with a 4-3 win at Mounds View, thanks in large part to Will Duda's first hat trick as a Red Knight.

Coming off Saturday's Hockey Day in Minnesota performance, in which he scored his second varsity goal of the season, Duda recorded another hat trick as BSM extended its winning streak to a season-best three games with a 5-1 win over Elk River.

Duda got the game's first goal, which came nine minutes, 27 seconds into the second period, but it took less than a minute for the Elks to respond with a Joe Gonrowski goal to tie the game.

Three minutes later, and with 1:48 to play in the middle frame, Duda found the back of the net again, this time on the power play, and the Red Knights were on their way.

He then pumped in the first of three third-period goals for BSM with Mark Kaske following with a short-handed goal for insurance and Jack Sims sealed the win with an empty net goal with 1:41 to play in the game.

Peter Thome and Patric Rooney split time in goal in a pre-planned change of goalies. Thome stopped 11 shots in the opening 22:39 while Rooney was credited with the win after stopping 14 of 15 shots over the game's final 21:16.

The Red Knights return to action, Saturday, when they face Rochester Lourdes in a noon matinee at Olmstead County Fairground's Graham Arena.
