Moore's hat trick propels Red Knights to victory.

Dan Labosky added three assists to his state-leading total.

T.J. Moore recorded his second hat trick of the season, scoring a power-play goal into an empty net to clinch second-ranked Benilde-St. Margarets' 7-5 win over No. 17 Holy Family.

The Red Knights' 15th victory didn't come easy, despite a 46-23 advantage in shot on goal and a 5-2 advantage in power-play chances.

BSM found itself trailing, 3-1, nine minutes and two seconds into the contest when John Peterson scored his second goal in just over two minutes, which came on the heels of Even Fleming's game-tying goal at 6:30.

The Fire appeared ready to head into the first intermission with that two-goal lead but a neutral-zone turnover was picked up by Dan Labosky and he got the puck to Grant Besse, he struck for his state Class AA leading 36th goal of the season with six seconds remaining on the clock.

The second period would prove pivotal as BSM had a 22-2 advantage in shots on goal and, despite the best efforts of Holy Family goalie Derek LaCombe, the Red Knights took a 5-3 lead.

The game-tying goal game when Seth Chumley intercepted a pass in the Fire slot and slipped the puck past LaCombe 7:22 into the middle stanza.

The score remained tied for nearly six minutes until Moore scored his first two goals just 25 seconds apart, on assists from Labosky and Spencer Nass, to give the hosts a two-goal lead with 3:24 to play in the frame.

The eventual game-winner came 8:41 into the final period as Chumley and Alex Baer forechecked the puck loose in the right corner of the Fire zone. Baer's pass found Johnny Austin crashing the slot and, after going the first 18 goals of the season without a goal, Austin scored for the second consecutive game to give the hosts a 6-3 lead.

Holy Family would make a late surge as Garrett Riebling score with 7:09 to play and Ryan Swanson cut the lead to one goal with 3:37 remaining on the clock.

However, just 43 seconds later, Swanson was given a major penalty and a game disqualification for knee to put BSM on the power play with a one-goal lead.

Moore's 14th goal of the season came when Besse won a battle in the right corner of the Fire zone to get the puck to Naas, who sent the puck to Moore in the top of the right circle and he fired into an empty net to seal the win.

The victory gave BSM its 15th win of the season as the Red Knights head into a week-long break before returning to their home ice next Wednesday when they will face national prep power Shattuck-St. Mary's in a 7 p.m. game.
