Former Red Knight chosen for U.S. Junior Select Team

Benilde-St. Margaret's alum Brett Patterson ('10) has been selected by USA Hockey for the 2011 U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete at the World Junior A Challenge in Langley, British Columbia, November 7-13.

This will be Patterson's first time representing the USA in international competition.

During his career as a Red Knight, Patterson played three varsity seasons, amassing 39 goals and 111 points in 82 career games. He scored 13 goals and 28 points, and was a career high +32, as a sophomore in 2007-08 when BSM finished third at the Class AA state tournament.

Patterson was a two-time all-conference selection for the Red Knights and served as a team co-captain in 2009-10.

In his second season with Sioux City of the United States Junior League, Patterson has committed to play for Dartmouth College next season. He currently leads the Musketeers with seven points in nine games and leads the league with 45 shots on goal.

The World Junior A Challenge is an international tournament sponsored by Hockey Canada, the Canadian Junior Hockey League and the International Ice Hockey Federation meant to display the best players at the Junior "A" level. The U.S. has dominated the tournament of late, winning the past three gold medals.
