Benilde-St. Margaret's was unable to get any momentum going early in the game and Burnsville took control in the second period en route to a 4-0 victory over the Red Knights.
Despite limiting the Blaze to just two shots in the opening period, BSM found itself trailing 1-0 after 15 minutes and when starting goalie Paul Lundberg was injured during a play on the hosts' second goal at five minutes, 37 seconds of the second period, Burnsville was beginning to take control of the game.
The Blaze would outshoot the Red Knights, 7-3, after that point in the middle frame but Will Jarvis turned aside all seven shots to keep the game at 2-0 heading into the third period.
Burnsville then scored just 44 seconds into the final stanza, added another near the middle of the period and coasted home with the shutout win.
BSM returns to action Saturday for its home opener when it hosts the Marshall School of Duluth. Game time at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
