Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys' Hockey

For the second time in his career, Grant Besse has earned honors as an athlete of the week from both the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

His freshman season in 2009-10, Besse was also honored by both newspapers for the opening week of the season and, once again, the Red Knight junior has gotten off to a fast start.

Tuesday, in a 16-0 win at St. Cloud Tech, he recorded his ninth career hat trick and added three assists for a career-best six-point performance.

Thursday, he led BSM's 3-2 win at seventh-ranked Hill-Murray by scoring early in the second period to tie the score at 1-1. He then set up two other second-period goals, giving him nine points on the week.

His four goals give him 67 in his career, good for third on BSM's career goal-scoring list. He also ranks 15th in career points with 112.
