BSM junior varsity claims win over Holy Angels to stay unbeaten

RICHFIELD, Minn. -- Defenseman Nick Palmer had a goal, two assists and a game-high seven shots on goal as Benilde-St. Margaret's remained unbeaten with a 6-2 win at Holy Angels.

The Red Knights' power play was key to the victory as they converted three of six opportunities, including both first-period power plays to take a 2-0 lead.

Dylan Popehn got BSM on the scoreboard when he notched his seventh goal in five games, seven minutes, 39 seconds into the opening frame.

Six minutes later, it was Taylor Salmon converting a Red Knight power-play opportunity as the visitors took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Christian Beck made it 3-0 just 2:23 into the second period before the Stars finally got on the scoreboard with a power-play goal.

A four-goal third period , all in the last six minutes, finished the game, with BSM scoring three of those goal.

Nik Wahlstrom and Palmer scored less than two minutes apart for a 5-1 lead before Holy Angels scored with 3:04 to play.

Liam Moser would close out the scoring with an unassisted power-play goal with 46 seconds remaining in the contest.

BSM enjoyed a 49-7 advantage in shots on goal, handing Logan Nowlin a victory in his first start in goal as a Red Knight.

BSM takes a 4-0-1 record into its next contest, a 5:30 p.m. affair, Tuesday, at Blake.
