Red Knights get back on track with win over Holy Angels

Trio of power-play goals enables BSM to down Stars.

RICHFIELD, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's scored a pair of third-period power-play goals, going 3-for-5 with the man advantage, to but the finishing touches on a 7-2 win at Holy Angels.

Michael Risteau scored two of those three power-play goals, added an assist and had a game-high seven shots on goal to lead the 10th-ranked Red Knights to victory.

Ryan Baird, who recorded his first career goal Thursday, opened the scoring with his second career goal with three minutes, 34 seconds remaining in the opening period.

Risteau scored his first goal of the game four minutes into the second period and, just 23 seconds later, Maximos Wendt, who recorded his first career point Thursday, notched his first career goal.

The Stars got on the scoreboard midway through the middle stanza but, with 1:41 to play in the frame, Cam Kirschner scored his first career goal and then, 19 seconds later, set up Junior Podein's first career goal.

The final period saw Drew Stewart and Risteau score back-to-back power-play goals before Holy Angels notched a power-play goal with 2:20 to play to finish the wild affair.

The game featured 83 shots on goal, 38 of which came on the power play, between the two teams with the Red Knights holding a 53-30 advantage.

Brennan Chapman, making his first start of the season, stopped 28 of 30 shots to collect the win.

Up next for the Red Knights is Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. game versus Blake at the Blake Arena in Hopkins.


Drew Stewart recorded four points versus Holy Angels giving him multiple-point in three of his last four games.
