First-period goals by Taylor Salmon get BSM going in sixth win of the season.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Taylor Salmon scored both first-period goals for Benilde-St. Margaret's, and set up the Red Knights' final goal as the junior varsity down Hill-Murray, 4-1.

Salmon sandwiched his two goals around the Pioneers' lone goal to give BSM all it would need as the Red Knights took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Westan Quirk then scored just 14 seconds into the second period when he scored on a backhand shot from the bottom of the left faceoff circle after a Dylan Popehn faceoff win.

Salmon's third point of the night came with 3:31 remaining the in middle frame as he carried the puck into the offensive zone on the right. He cut to the net, had his first shot and a rebound attempt stopped, but his second shot came out and landed on the stick of Nik Wahlstrom, who buried his attempt.

Charlie Winegarner backstopped another BSM victory, stopping 22 of 23 shots.

The Pioneers then out-shot the Red Knights, 10-6, in the final period but Charlie Winegarner was up to the challenge, stopping all 10 shots and finishing with 22 saves.

BSM returns to action, Tuesday, for the first of three games in three days during the Tradition in the Park Holiday Classic. The Red Knights will face Andover in a 2 p.m. on East Rink at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
