Wingarner's season-high 40 saves enables Red Knights to earn tie.

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Charlie Winegarner stopped a career-high 40 shots on Nik Wahlstrom's goal with one minutes, 34 seconds to play, just seven seconds after Moorhead had taken a one-goal lead, enabled Benilde-St. Margaret's to skate to a 2-2 tie with the Spuds.

Jace Blythe had scored with 1:47 to play, giving the home team a one-goal game and an apparent victory.

Liam Moser won the ensuing faceoff and it too just seven seconds for Nate Palmer to set up Wahlstrom with the game-tying goal.

The team's trade goals quickly in the opening period as well as Dylan Popehn's team leading goal came with 3:33 to play in the opening frame.

Just 37 seconds later Tanner Gilbertson struck for the hosts to send the game into the first intermission tied a 1-1.

The score would remain tied for more than two full periods until the teams traded goals in the final two minutes of regulation play.

Moorhead held a 42-24 advantage in shots on goal as Winegarner, in his second season with the Red Knights, set his career-high in saves.

Next up for BSM is a home-and-home Metro West Conference series with Chaska. The two teams are scheduled for a 5 p.m. meeting, Tuesday, at the St. Louis Park Rec Center before a Saturday rematch, starting at 12 p.m., at the Chaska Community Center.
