Stewart extends scoring streak in win over Hawks.

CHASKA, Minn. -- Drew Stewart extended his streak of multiple-point games to 11 and his four-point performance led eighth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's to a 9-1 win and series sweep of Chaska.

The teams met Tuesday, with the Red Knights coming away with a 7-1 win, while they extended their winning streak to six games with Saturday's win at Chaska.

BSM got two first-period power-play chances and converted both, the first giving the Red Knights a 1-0 lead when Wes Berg's shot from the right faceoff circle went in off the shin pad of Ryan Baird.

Berg then scored his own goal when he stepped in from the right point, took a pass across the slot from Stewart and found the back of the next to give his team a 2-0 lead.

BSM would go into the second period with a 3-0 lead when A.J. Ulrich tipped a pass to Maximos Wendt in the neutral.

The two headed up ice with Wendt carrying the puck up the right side. Ulrich came racing up the middle of the ice and tipped Wendt's returned past Chaska goalie Max Maginnis.

Stewart, who had two assists in the opening period, scored for the third consecutive game when he set up behind the Hawks' net. Caleb Koskie gave him the puck from the left side and, as Stewart packed away from the net, he banked the puck in off of Maginnis.

A.J. Ulrich has scored the first two goals of his career against Chaska and has now scored in back-to-back games.

Michael Risteau recorded his third three-point outing of the season.

Michael Risteau, who assisted on the goal, scored himself with 7:37 to play in the middle frame and Stewart added his second goal when he intercepted a clearing pass at the right point and fired a shot through traffic with 3:03 on the clock.

Still, there were two more goals coming in the final three minutes of the second period.

Peter Giertsen took advantage of a Chaska defensemen, who failed to control a puck in his own zone. The Red Knight co-captain picked up the puck off the right-wing boards and took the puck directly to the net to make it a 7-0 lead.

Chaska got on the scoreboard the same way they did Tuesday, via a Ty Broten power-play goal, which came with 20 seconds remaining in the second period.

A pair of goals in the first five minutes of the final period, by Caleb Koskie and Cole Bumgarner, rounded out the scoring, finishing the 9-1 win.

Thirteen of BSM's 18 skaters recorded points in the contest. Risteau, with three points, was one of eight players with multiple-point games.

The Red Knights had a 35-14 advantage in shots on goal with 15 of 18 players recording a shot.

Mason McElroy won his fifth consecutive game by turning in a 13-save effort.

BSM returns to action Monday, when they face #4A Mahotemdi in a 4 p.m. game that has been postponed due to weather twice.
