Wahlstrom has game highs with three points and nine shots to lead BSM win.

CHASKA, Minn. -- Nik Wahlstrom scored a pair of goals and he and Liam Moser each recorded three-point outings as the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity scored a 5-1 win over Chaska.

The Hawks scored just 50 seconds into the contest and the game looked like it would be vastly different than the Red Knights' 10-0 over Chaska, Tuesday.

But it took just 17 seconds for the visitors to tie the score as Dylan Popehn collected his 17th goal in the 14th game of the season.

The score remained that way throughout the remainder of the period but 60 seconds into the middle stanza, Popehn, whose goal was set up by Liam Moser, returned the favor.

Popehn took the puck behind the net, passed it out front and Moser, who had established position in front of the Hawks' goal and banged home the pass for what would stand up as the game-winning goal.

Gian Dante Aloi tipped a puck out of a goal-mouth scramble in his own end and Moser picked up the loose puck, raced up the left side and found Wahlstrom for a goalmouth tip in at 4:36 of the second frame.

Liam Moser matched his season high with three points to extend his point-scoring streak to six games.

Jack Anderson recorded his fourth multiple-point game in his last five games.

That score lasted nearly a full period before Charlie Thorpe picked up a loose puck on the right-wing boards. He moved the puck to Wyatt Elder in the corner and turned to head towards the net.

Thorpe then took a return pass and fired a shot to the short side past Tyler Nesheim for a 4-1 Red Knight lead.

Wahlstrom then put the icing on the cake with 3:23 to play when he tipped a Jack Anderson shot on goal and then converted his own rebound.

After allowing the game's first goal, BSM dominated the remainder of the contest as the Red Knights had a 51-12 advantage in shots on goal, with Charlie Winegarner raising his record to 7-1-2 on the season after stopping 11 shots.

BSM's next game is a rare Monday matinee as they make up a twice-postponed game with Mahtomedi. Opening faceoff at the St. Louis Park Rec Center is slated for 2 p.m.
