Minor's career-best five points leads offensive explosion for BSM.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Fifth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's scored 11 goals for the second time this season and it was freshman defenseman Mason Minor, who had a goal and four assists, lead the onslaught as the Red Knights down Waconia, 11-0.

It was a night of milestones for several Red Knights, besides Minor, who established a school record for points in a game by a freshman defenseman.

Wes Berg tallied two goals and an assist. His second goal, which came with 10 minutes, 27 seconds to play in the game, was the 100th point of his three-year varsity career, reaching the mark in 65 games.

Junior Drew Stewart also picked up two goals and an assist. His second goal, a short-handed effort with 1:41 to play in the middle period, was his 20th of the season in 19 games.

Charlie Conway's first career goal capped the Red Knights' win.

Wes Berg's three-point performance allowed him to reach the 100-point plateau for his career.

The feel-good story of the night came on the last goal of the game as Peter Giertsen found Charlie Conway open in front of the net and the senior, in his first varsity season, stuffed the puck home for his first career goal.

Fourteen of the BSM's 18 skaters collected points in the contest with eight picking up multiple points and six registering three or more points.

The team's goal-scorers on the night included Berg and Stewart, with two each, along with Conway, Minor, Giertsen, Michael Risteau, Gavin Reed and Ben Norris, whose goal came on BSM's lone power-play of the night.

Meanwhile, Brennan Chapman started in goal for the third time in four games and picked up his third shutout of the season, stopping nine shots as the Red Knights had a 57-9 advantage in shots on goal.

Saturday, the Red Knights close out the home portion of the 2022-23 schedule when they take on Eden Prairie in a 7 p.m.
