Red Knights to meet Wayzata in championship rematch

After a scoreless opening period, Benilde-St. Margaret's erupted for four goals in an eight-minute span of the second period and went onto a 6-0 win over Eden Prairie in the semifinals of the Holiday Hockey Classic.

Danny Liberko and Austin Polson-McCannon each had a goal and an assist while Will Jarvis made 18 saves to lead the Red Knights, who will meet Wayzata for the second consecutive season in the junior varsity tournament championship game.

Zach Gionet and Tanner Ahlborn scored the first two goals of the second period for BSM and, just 20 seconds after Ahlborn's sixth goal of the season, Polson-McCannon notched his fourth of the year and, after being set up by Liberko, he returned the favor on Liberko's third of the campaign with five minutes, 34 seconds to play in the middle stanza.

After four consecutive penalties by the Eagles gave the Red Knights an extended 5-on-3 power play, Storm Sullivan picked up his team-leading 12th goal of the season just 22 seconds into the final period and Even Fleming scored his fourth goal of the tournament at 3:37 to send the game into running time.

Jarvis made 18 saves in recording his second shutout of the season, including nine in the second period.

BSM meets Wayzata at 2:30 p.m. in tomorrow's championship game at the East Rink of the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
