Besse's five-point night leads BSM to victory

Grant Besse reached the 30-point plateau for season with a five-point outing and Benilde-St. Margaret's, resplendent in jerseys and helmets sporting the number 13 in honor of Jack Jablonski, defeated St. Louis Park in the Red Knights return to action after an eight-day layoff.

In a game which started with 13 seconds of silence for Jack, and in which his younger brother, Max, took the ice with the team for pregame ceremonies, BSM scored four times in the game's first nine minutes, five seconds and Besse had three points in that time.

Tyler Ellegard got the festivities started when he cased in a rebound of a Ben Newhouse shot which Nick Lauth had tipped on goal just 3:40 into the contest.

It was just 42 seconds later when Dan Labosky made it a 2-0 game as he scored on a scramble in front with linemates Besse and T.J. Moore picking up assists.

Labosky scored again less than two minutes later after taking a feed from Besse before the first of Besse's two goals made it 4-0.

Labosky and Besse scored the only goals of the second period. Oriole goalie Ryan Nichols made 17 saves in the period and kept BSM from opening the lead any further until Labosky completed his hat trick at 10:33 of the period.

Besse scored an unassisted goal with 1:30 remaining in the period when he forced a turnover while forechecking, skated in alone on Nichols and scored his 10th goal of the season.

Jake O'Borsky's power-play tally at 3:40 of the third period finished the scoring as he got the puck from Christian Horn and walked out of hte right faceoff circle before ripping a shot into the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season.

Anders Jecha recorded his second shutout of the season with a 14-save outing to raise his record to 7-2-0 on the season.

BSM returns to action, Tuesday, when it hosts Spring Lake Park in an 8 p.m. contest at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center.
