Red Knight JV splits one-goal thrillers.

BSM 1, Hermantown 0

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Matthew Perreault stopped all 25 shots he faced and Mark Walsma scored the game's lone goal as Benilde-St. Margaret's down Hermantown, 1-0.

Walsma goal came with just over five minutes remaining in the second period and was started by Mason Smith retrieving the puck in his own zone.

Smith turned quickly and passed the puck to Logan Timmins at the Red Knights' blue line and he tipped the puck to Lucas Runman, who picked up the puck in stride while exiting the zone.

Walsma jumped up to join Runman, who carried the puck all the way to the Hawks' zone to create a 2-on-2. However, both Hermantown defenders collapsed on Runman and he was able to leave a drop pass for Walsma, whose shot beat Hawks' goalie Evan Sundell as he tried sliding from left to right.

It was all Perreault would need to earn the shutout win

Charlie Moe assisted on two of BSM's three goals.

Grand Rapids 4, BSM 3

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Grand Rapids held a three-goal lead heading into the third period before Benilde-St. Margaret's rallied for three goals, but the Thunderhawks were still able to pull out a 4-3 victory.

Trailing 3-0, the Red Knights opened the final frame with a pair of power-play tallies from Mason Smith and Connor Timmins, and, with six minutes, 13 seconds remaining, BSM was within a goal of completing their comeback.

Unfortunately for the Red Knights, pulling goalie Henry Charcut for an extra attacker back fired as the visitors scored an empty-net goal with 1:18 to play.

Seeming to have the win secured, Grand Rapids saw the hosts score one last time as Grayson Quirk scored to, once again, pull to within one goal of the Thunderhawks.

Despite being out-shot by better than a 3:1 ratio, 47-15, Grand Rapids scored on 27 percent of its shots, including the game winner into an empty net on one of two shots in the final frame. Altogether, they were out-shot, 18-2, in the final 17 minutes.

The Red Knights return to action Thursday, for the finaal Metro West Conference game of the season as they travel to Victoria, Minn., to face Chanhassen in a 5 p.m. contest.
