A.J. Ulrich's ninth goal of the season gave BSM the initial lead.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Third-ranked Edina and fourth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's skated through more than 22 minutes of scoreless hockey before the Red Knights broke the ice.

But the Hornets responded with a pair of third-period, the last coming with 13 seconds remaining in regulation, to claim a 2-1 win in a Section 6AA Section semifinal, ending BSM's season.

The Red Knights lone goal came at five minutes, 22 seconds of the second period when Mason Minor made a cross-ice pass from his zone, to Ben Norris in the neutral zone.

Norris then found A.J. Ulrich streaking in on the left side and hit him with pass which Ulrich then buried for a 1-0 lead.

Heading into third  period, BSM held onto that lead but it took just 2:11 into the final frame for Edina to get the equalizer.

With the game appearing to be headed to overtime, Bobby Cowan jammed the puck past Red Knight goalie Mason McElroy and the Hornets had their first game of the lead, with just 12.8 seconds to play.

Edina, which has ended BSM's season in four of the last six seasons, held a 32-29 edge in shots on goal. McElroy stopped 30 shots. He finished his career ranked in the top three in six categories among all Red Knight goalies.

Mason McElroy stopped 30 shots for the second time this season.
