Red Knights hand out year-end awards
Pin Stripes hosts BSM's annual awards banquet.
EDINA, Minn. -- The annual awards banquet for the Benilde-St. Margaret's boys' hockey team was held at Pin Stripes in Edina.
The program's 38 student-athletes, along with 11 student-managers, videographers and statisticans, were all honored at the banquet.
Varsity letters were awarded to: Jack Anderson, Carter Callan, Nick Johnson, Noah Johnson, Cam Kirchner, Caleb Koskie, Liam Kyle, Mason McElroy, Mason Minor, Liam Moser, Ben Norris, Nick Palmer, Matthew Perreault, Junior Podein, Dylan Popehn, Grayson Quirk, Westan Quirk, Taylor Salmon, Mason Stenger, A.J. Ulrich, Nik Wahlstrom, and student managers Erin Anderson, Avery Coen, Lucia Halstrom, Ellie Hilbrands, Marin King, Shelby Loberg, Sebastian Proudlock.

Jack Anderson
Jack Jablonski Most Improved Player Award
In his first year as a Red Knight, Anderson saw action in all 27 games as a senior, tallying three goals and 15 points.
Anderson was second on the team in blocked shots (21) and scored two of his three goals on the power play.

Most Assists Certificate
Cam Kirschner's second varsity season saw him nearly double his point total from a year.
After scoring four goals and 17 points last season, he tallied 10 goals and 32 points, including tying for the team lead with 22 assists.
Kirschner was second on the team in power-play assists (7), helping the Red Knights to their best power play efficiency since 2013.

Most Goals Certificate
Caleb Koskie blossomed into a leader for the Red Knights both on and off the ice during his senior campaign as a captain and scoring leader.
Despite missing four games this season, he set career highs in goals (16), points (35) and plus/minus rating (+25). He also won 64.9 percent of his faceoffs.
Next fall will see Koskie, in Bloominton, Ind., where he will play baseball for the Indiana Hoosiers. He will join the team as part of the top-ranked recruiting class in the Big Ten.

One of several seniors playing in their first varsity season, Liam Kyle provided a quality depth forward while seeing action in 23 of 27 games.
Kyle had a goal and an assist in a 7-1 win over Chaska (12/12/23) and a goal, and a season-high four shots on goal, in a 7-0 win over Waconia (1/25/24).

Mason McElroy
All-Metro West Conference
Mason McElroy finished his career in the top three among all BSM goalie in six career categories: wins (3rd, 50), saves (2nd, 1432), save percentage (3rd, .912), goals against average (3rd, 2.03), minutes played (2nd, 3460:43), and shutouts (3rd, 11).
His 20 wins this season was second all-time, and he was second in minutes played (1316:31) and tied for second in shutouts (5).
On Jan. 27 of this season, McElroy became the first goalie in school history to record two assists in one game, which came in a 6-2 win at Hill-Murray. He recorded three assists in his career.

Mason Minor
All-Metro West Conference
Mason Minor is the first BSM sophomore to earn first-team all-conference honors since Grant Besse in 2011.
He led the team with 128 shots on goal and, in a season-ending, 2-0 win over Chanhassen to secure a share of the MWC title, he scored both Red Knight goals.
Minor also led the team with eight power-play assists and shared the team lead with nine power-play points. On the season, he tallied seven goals and 28 points.

Andrew Alberts Most Improved Player Award
One of seven Red Knight seniors in his first full varsity season, Liam Moser proved to be a valuable member on the team's third line, primarily at right wing.
He scored three goals and seven points on the season with his most important goal being the game winner, breaking a 3-3 third-period tie versus Class A second-ranked Hermantown.

Westan Quirk
BEST DEFENSIVE FORWARD
Westan Quirk was a valuable two-way player for the Red Knights this season while playing both top-six and bottom-six roles.
He scored eight goals and 15 points on the season while scoring two game-winning goals, a short-handed goal and a first goal.
The 2023-2024 season was the senior's first varsity campaign for the Red Knights.

For the second season in a row, he was the team's leader in time on ice per game.
