Paul Lundberg made a career-high 35 saves but a power-play goal with just under 11 minutes to play by Wayzata's Alex Waszczenko broke a scoreless tie and enabled the Trojans to garner a 1-0 win over Benilde-St. Maragaret's.
After two scoreless periods in which the home team carried much of the play, Wayzata dominated the final period, outshooting the Red Knights, 18-5.
BSM had pulled Lundberg for an extra attacker in the final minutes of the game but a tripping call against the Red Knights forced the Red Knights to return him to the net and the Trojans held on over the final 78 seconds.
After the two teams skated to a 3-3 tie in the championship game of the Holiday Hockey Classic, before BSM won the title in a shootout, Wayzata had a dominant 36-14 advantage in shots on goal.
The Red Knights return to action, Wednesday, with a road game in Faribault, Minn., when they take on Shattuck-St. Mary's in a 5:30 p.m. game.
