Red Knights dominate but unable to come away with win

Benilde-St. Margaret's held more than a 2-to-1 advantage in shots on goal but were thwarted by Dominic Wippler's 36-save effort as the Red Knights and Totino-Grace skated to a 1-1 overtime tie.

It took just 61 seconds for the Red Knights to get on the scoreboard as Tanner Ahlborn slipped the game's first shot on goal underneath Wippler.

The Eagles evened the score with three minutes, 22 seconds remaining in the opening period and, despite outshooting its guest, 10-3, BSM had to settle for a 1-1 tie.

Over the next two periods, the Red Knights outshot Totino-Grace, 23-9, yet was unable to snap the 1-1 tie and the teams would skate through the game's final 38:22 without finding the back of the net.

The game ended a nine-game winning streak for goalie Will Jarvis, who had won his first nine starts of the season before having to settle for a tie while stopping 14 of the 15 shots he faced.

BSM plays its final North Suburban Conference in its next outing, Tuesday, at Chisago Lakes. Opening faceoff at Chisago Lakes Arena is slated for 5 p.m.
