O'Borsky posts four points, BSM scores six PP goals in win over Ponies.

Four major penalties resulted in nine power-play goals and Benilde-St. Margaret's scored six of those, coming out on top of Stillwater, 8-4, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The only two goals of the first period were even-strength tallies as Jake O'Borsky set up Christian Horn for the game's first goal, five minutes, 29 seconds into the contest, which the Ponies got back when Billy Wagner scored with 1:09 remaining in the opening stanza.

Stillwater's Zach Fedie received a major penalty for boarding with 24 seconds to play in the first period and it would enable the Red Knights to scored five times in the first 4:09 of the second, thanks in large part to another major penalty on Chad Smith for checking from behind.

Grant Besse's 40th goal of the season came on a tip of a Jake Horton shot just 44 seconds into the period and Ben Newhouse took a cross-ice pass from Tyler Ellegard and scored from the left point just 28 seconds later.

Smith's penalty came at 1:46 and BSM proceeded to score three times in under two minutes while on a 5-on-3 power play.

O'Borsky made the score 4-1, 31 seconds into the 5-on-3 advantage, and T.J. Moore's off of Stillwater goalie Blake Cates rebounded into the Ponies net off of one of the team's defenseman.

Horn then finished the scoring run when he notched his 22nd goal of the season at the 4:09 mark of the period.

Jeff Flicker scored on an unassisted power-play, at 8:52, but Chase Jungels responded with a power-play goals just two minutes later

The lone even-strength goal of the final two periods came with 2:26 to play in the game when Seth Chumley knocked home a loose puck in traffic in front of the Ponies' net.

After having killed off a five-minute Stillwater power-play earlier in the third period, the Red Knights were unable to duplicate the feat in the final 90 seconds of the game as the Ponies took advantage of another major penalty, scoring twice in a 48-second span to finish the scoring.

Half of BSM's 36 shots on goal came during the power play as the Red Knights enjoyed a 36-15 advantage in shots on goal.

The Red Knights now await their playoff as the Section 6AA seeds will be announced tomorrow. The quarterfinals are at home sites Thursday with the semifinals slated for next Saturday with one at Braemar Arena in Edina and the other at the Bloomington Ice Garden.

The Section 6AA championship game is scheduled for Wed., Feb 29, at Mariucci Arena.
