Horn's two goals, Quale's shutout help BSM advance.

Justin Quale extended his scoreless streak to over 215 minutes and Christian Horn scored twice as Benilde-St. Margaret's advanced to the Section 6AA championship game for the first time in four years with a 5-0 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong.

The Falcons work ethic showed early as they had a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal during the first period. But it was a mistake that proved costly to Armstrong.

Jake Horton's clearing pass from next to his own net missed Zach Hale in the neutral zone and the loose puck was chased down by the Falcons in their own zone. However, a blind backhand pass off the boards by an Armstrong defenseman was picked up by Alec Anderson in the right corner.

Anderson turned in the corner and found Hale wide open in the slot. The third-line sophomore center had plenty of time to pick his shot and he ended a 12-game goal-scoring drought at 9:04 of the opening frame.

After escaping the first period with a 1-0 lead, the Red Knights began to run up the pressure in the second period.

BSM took a 2-0 lead 6:01 into the middle frame when Ryan Collins got the puck at the right point. He dumped the puck around the boards and Tyler Ellegard picked up the puck in the left corner, passing the puck to Patrick Graham and the right point.

From there, Graham got off a shot through traffic that stayed low and found it's way through traffic and past Falcon goalie Michael Greenberg.

After that goal, it was Horn's turn to shine.

The Red Knight senior co-captain, who led all players with six shots on goal and was plus-three on the night, gathered a loose puck in the neutral zone, blew past the Falcons' defense and beat Greenberg with 8:10 to play in the middle period.

His second goal came 5:58 into the final period, when BSM dominated the game despite spending seven minutes killing penalties.

Jake O'Borsky and Jake Horton both had shots from in close stopped by Greenberg but the third time was the charge as Horn managed to poke a rebound into the net for his 199th career point.

In the game's final 13 minutes, the Red Knights had to kill two penalties, including a major penalty to Anderson with 8:46 to play.

Despite pulling Greenberg for an extra attacker for over two minutes of, the Falcons were unable to get on the scoreboard.

Less than a minute after killing the five-minute penalty, BSM found itself on the penalty kill again and, once again, Armstrong pulled Greenberg for an extra attacker.

This time, the Red Knight penalty kill sealed the win when Horton and Dan Labosky worked the puck out of the BSM zone to T.J. Moore in the neutral zone. From there, Moore skated up the right-wing boards, into the Falcons' zone and fired the puck into the empty net.

The Red Knights got another solid goaltending performance from Quale, who has not allowed a goal in his last four starts. His 22-performance was the Red Knights' third shutout in four games, all of which Quale has been a part of.

The win advances BSM to the Section 6AA championship against Minnetonka, whom the Red Knights dropped a 5-3 decision to earlier this season. BSM's last trip to the section title game resulted in a 3-2 overtime win for the Red Knights, Feb. 27, 2008.

BSM meets the Skippers at Mariucci Arena, Wednesday, beginning at 6 p.m.
