Benilde-St. Margaret's, ranked sixth in the state, did not receive a seed in this week's Class AA state tournament and will meet fourth-ranked Edina in the last of four quarterfinal games.
The Red Knights (22-6-0) and Hornets (23-5-0), who met in an overtime thriller in the 2008 state tournament, which Edina won, 5-4, are slated to square off at 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Xcel Energy Center.
Quarterfinal action gets underway with second-seeded Maple Grove (24-2-2) facing Hill-Murray (22-6-0) at 11 a.m., followed by third-seeded Eagan (24-3-1) taking on Moorhead (21-6-0).
The evening session of quarterfinal play is set for 6 p.m. with top-seeded Duluth East (27-1-0) scheduled to face Lakeville South (20-8-0).
This is BSM's fourth trip to the state tournament and second in Class AA. The Red Knights won Class A titles in 1999 and 2001 and finished third in Class AA in 2008. BSM is 8-1-0 in state tournament play.
