BSM loses in Holiday Hockey Classic quarterfinal

Peter Thome has allowed two or fewer goals in each of his four appearances this season.

Benilde-St. Margaret's held a territorial advantage but Lakeville North had the edge in the only thing that mattered as the Panthers claimed a 2-1 win from the Red Knights in a Sports Authority Holiday Hockey Classic quarterfinal game.

BSM had a 30-17 advantage in shots on goal and but Lakeville North struck on its first chance of the game as Jared Inserra scored just 50 seconds into the game and added another goal with one minute, 44 seconds to play in the opening period.

Zach Risteau scored the Red Knights' lone goal just 1:40 into the second period but Panther goalie Lukas Olson made 29 saves to keep BSM at bay.

The Red Knights will play in the consolation round of the tournament, taking on Wayzata in an 8 a.m. game, Friday.
