Four Red Knights score two goals each in win

Four Red Knight players scored two goals each and Benilde-St. Maragaret's cruised to a 9-0 win over Irondale.

BSM scored on its first two power-play chances of the game, getting goals from Joe Anderson and Chase Mlnarik, to take a 2-0 lead six minutes, 49 seconds into the game.

John Kernan's goal with 54 seconds remaining in the opening frame sent the Red Knights into the first intermission with a three-goal lead.

It took less than five minutes for that lead to be extended to five goals ans Mlnarik scored his second of the game and Kernan set up Sean O'Toole at the 4:21 mark.

Anderson and Kernan scored goals in the final 65 seconds of the period to make the score 7-0 an ensure the final period would be played using running time.

O'Toole made it 8-0 with his second goal of the game at 4:01 of the third period and Henry Williams scored his first goal of the season with 2:06 to play, converting a pass from Kernan, who finished the game with five points.

BSM dominated the game, holding a 51-5 advantage in shots on goal. Luke McCormick was the beneficiary in goal as he recorded his first shutout of the season.

The Red Knights are back in action Thursday, Jan. 29, when they host the Shattuck-St. Mary's U16 team beginning at 5:30 p.m.
