Risteau scores tying and winning goals in final four minutes.

Matt Arnason scored BSM's first two goals to keep the Red Knights in the game.

Benilde-St. Margaret's found itself trailing by two goals in the game's 75 seconds but perserved and scored three times in the games final four minutes, 14 seconds as the Red Knight junior varsity posted a 5-4 win over the Shattuck-St. Mary's Midget AA team.

Nicholas Bond scored just 33 seconds into the game and Sam Oden tallied 42 seconds later as the Sabres scored on their first shots of the game.

For the second game in a row, BSM was awarded a penalty shot when Matt Arnason got behind the SSM defense but had his stick slashed out of his hands while attempting to shoot on a breakaway.

Arnason found the back of the net on his attempt to cut the lead in half and the score remained that way until deep into the second period, when Mitch Dolter scored 1:17 before the second intermission to give the visitors a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

Arnason's ninth goal of the season, 4:22 into the final period, cut the lead to one goal again but Adam Canepa made it a two-goal lead again just 46 seconds later.

Just over a minute later, the Red Knights had a chance to cut into the lead when they went on the power play but failed to generate a shot on goal and their chance of a comeback appeared to be fading with 6:39 to play.

However, 70 seconds later, BSM got one more chance on the power play and, this time, applied pressure to the Sabres and final cut the lead to one goal once again when Justin Winter buried a shot with 4:14 to play.

The goal turned momentum fully in the Red Knights' favor and Zach Risteau took full advantage of the shift, scoring 40 seconds after Winter's goal to tie the game before giving BSM its only lead of the game with 1:43 to play.

With the victory, the Red Knights reached the .500 mark on the season for the first time, sporting an 8-8-4 record.

They are on the road for two more games this week, travelling to St. Francis for a 5 p.m. game at East Bethel Arena, Thursday, and to Eden Prairie, Saturday, for a 1 p.m. game at the Eden Prairie Community Center.
