Former Red Knight serving as backup for top-ranked Bobcats

Jacob Meyers led BSM to its first Class AA state tournament appearance, in 2008, during his sophomore season and was an all-conference honoree in 2009 and 2010.

Former Benilde-St. Margaret's goalie Jacob Meyers is on the verge or earning an NCAA championship ring as his top-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats take on Yale, Saturday, in the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey championship.

Meyers, a 2010 BSM graduate, backstopped the Red Knights to the semifinals of the 2008 Class AA state championship, where they placed third. He won 14 games in each of his three varsity seasons to finish second on BSM's all-time list with 42 career wins.

He also finished his career second BSM's career lists for saves (1,272) and minutes played (3043:41).

Meyers went onto spend two seasons with the Alexandria Blizzard of the North American Hockey League. Last season, he was named to the NAHL All-Central Division team after posting a 30-9-2 record with a 2.09 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.

He has served as a backup goalie for the Bobcats this year behind All-American and Hobey Baker Award finalist Eric Hartzell.
