Former Red Knight earns NAHL honor

Former BSM goalie goaltender Mike Shibrowski ('09) backstopped the Owatonna Express to three wins last week, turning aside 65 of 70 shots, and earned North American Hockey League goalie of the week honors for his efforts.

Friday, the Edina, Minn., native stopped all 24 shots he faced as the Express blanked Bismarck, 2-0.

The next night, the 18-year-old stopped 22 shots in regulation and overtime and four of five in the shootout in a 5-4 triumph over the Alexandria Blizzard.

Sunday, Shibrowski steered aside 19 shots in regulation and overtime and four of five in the shootout as Owatonna edged the Bismarck, 2-1.

“We’ve been playing very well defensively as a team," Express head coach Pat Cullen said. "Every time Mike plays he gives us an opportunity to win.

“He’s an extremely hard-working kid, and the results are a product of the work he puts in on a daily basis.”
