Taylor Topousis solid "D" stifles Hawks

The Red Knights totally dominated this game from start to finish.  The only suspense was whether BSM would reach the 60 shot mark.  That was the only thing that they didn't do in this game.  BSM outshot the Hawks 59 - 5 and put a 7 - 0 pasting on Cooper.

The Red Knights peppered the net after the first few minutes of getting used to the ice at New Hope Arena.  Once they did, the shooting and scoring frenzy began.  Vince Beacom got BSM going, getting the first and game winning goal at the 13:00 minute mark from Robert Papetti and Dominic Burg.  Just 17 seconds later, Chris Flood found the back of the net taking the feed from Joe Haselman.  Less than a minute later, Taylor Topousis scored an unassisted goal at 14:31 of the period.  If Cooper had any thoughts of an upset, the 3 BSM goals in 1:31 ended that.  Shots in the first period were 21 - 1 in favor of the Red Knights.

The onslaught continued into the second period.  BSM outshot Cooper 27 - 1 and added 3 more goals in the period.  Goal scorers were Chris Flood with the second of his three goals, Joe Hasleman, and Taylor Topousis with his second goal of the game.  Players with assists in the period were Michael Blessing, Chris Flood, and Ryan Lawyer.  The Red Knights had a very comfortable 6 - 0 lead going into the third period, and a 48 - 2 shooting advantage.

The third period was played with running time, which probably prevented the Red Knights from breaking the 60 shot mark for the game.  Chris Flood got his hat trick netting the only goal of the period with the assist going to Michael Blessing.  Isaac Melin and Adam Clark shared the net and combined in the shutout.  This was the 9th shutout win of the season for the Red Knights.

BSM will next take on Moorhead on Friday night at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
