Dynamic Duo: Jake Horton nets hat trick and Christian Horn dishes out 4 assists in win

The "H" boys were a force that Cooper could never find an answer for.  Jake Horton had the first hat trick this season by a defensemen, and Christian Horn dished out 4 assists in the Red Knights route of Cooper by a score of 8 - 0.

Although the score was only 1 - 0 after 1 period, the Red Knights completely dominated play, outshooting the Hawks 18 - 2.  The lone goal of the period was scored by Dan Pemberton, with the assists going to John Kernan and David Tranvik.

The Red Knights really turned up the heat in the second period, where every skater had at least 1 shot on goal.  Shots for the period were an incredible 32 - 3.  Jake Horton got the Knights off and rolling scoring just 1:33 into the period from Grant Besse and Alec Anderson.  About a minute and a half later, Jake Horton struck again on the power play, assisted by Christian Horn and Patrick Steinhauser.  Goal number three came less than 3 minutes later off of the stick of Grant Besse from Sam Anderson and Christian Horn.  Eighteen seconds after that, Patrick Steinhauser scored from Grant Besse and Sam Anderson.  The Cooper goaltender was feeling the pressure during this onslaught and ended up taking a couple of penalties in frustration.  At 13:33 of the period, Grant Besse scored his second goal of the period with assists from Patrick Steinhauser and Christian Horn.  The final goal of the period was scored by John Duda on the power play from Dan Pemberton and Patrick Graham.  The 6 goal second period barrage was the most goals scored in a period this season.

Heading into the third period with a 7 - 0 lead, the only question left was whether Jake Horton could bury one more shot for his hat trick.  The suspense ended quickly, as Jake scored just 51 seconds into the third period on the power play from Christian Horn and Patrick Steinhauser.  Shots for the game were 64 - 8, easily the most shots taken by the Red Knights in a game this season.  This was a 4 point game and increased BSM's lead in the North Suburban Conference over 2nd place Totino-Grace.

The Red Knights will next host the Moorhead Spuds on Friday night at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
