Grant Besse sets BSM freshman goal scoring record

The Red Knights swept the season series from St. Louis Park, defeating them by a score of 6 - 0.  A couple of noteworthy events from this game were:

Grant Besse broke the freshman goal scoring record set by Christian Horn last season, when he notched his 25th goal of the season in the first period.

Anders Jecha recorded his first Varsity shutout in goal.

BSM played a solid game, dominating from the outset and putting forth a complete game effort, as they outshot the Orioles 48 - 7.  Christian Horn got the game's first goal from a feed from Ryan Palm.  Ryan set up the play with a solid neutral zone hit that sprung Christian free to the net.  Less than a minute later, Grant Besse scored his historic goal, with the assists going to Christian Horn and Patrick Steinhauser.  The period ended with the Red Knights in front 2 - 0.

BSM continued their domination in the second period, outshooting the Orioles 15 - 2, but only beat St. Louis Park netminder Mickey Hills once at the 13:47 mark by Jake Horton on the power play from Christian Horn and Patrick Steinhauser.

With a 3 - 0 lead entering the third period, the Red Knights put the game away with goals from John Kernan (scoring in his second consecutive game), Patrick Steinhauser, and Dan Labosky.  Assists in the period went to seniors David Tranvik and John Duda, and also to Christian Horn and Dan Pemberton.  The Red Knights are closing in on the North Suburban Conference title.

On Thursday, BSM will take on the Shattuck St. Mary's prep team.  This game will be a real test for the Red Knights.
