Jacob Meyers 41 saves wasn't enough to hold off Shattuck

Last year, the Red Knights hosted the Sabres and opened up with a 2 - 0 lead, only to see Shattuck come back to tie the game at 3 after 2 periods.  The Sabres then went on to outshoot BSM 17 - 1 in the third period to win the game going away 7 - 3.

This year, BSM was looking to settle the score.  They again jumped to an early lead, with Patrick Steinhauser getting the first goal of the game at the 8:08 mark, assisted by Grant Besse and Christian Horn.  The lead was short lived as the Sabres tied the game just 30 seconds later.  The first period ended with both teams deadlocked at 1.

Shattuck came out strong in the second period and added a couple of goals to take a 3 - 1 lead after 2 periods.  BSM was determined to get back in the game, and they did by scoring on the power play, 7:01 into the third period on a shot by Patrick Steinhauser, from feeds from Brett Patterson and Christian Horn.  The Red Knights had a couple of opportunities to tie the game, but were unable to get a bounce their way.  Shattuck added an empty net goal to finish the scoring and they came away with the 4 - 2 victory.  A strong take away from this game was the special teams play by the Red Knights.  They killed all 4 penalties and they scored on their only power play opportunity.

BSM returns to conference play when they take on Irondale on Tuesday night.
