Key saves by Jacob Meyers and late goal by Will Nelson preserve tie

The Red Knights honored their outgoing senior class before the game:  Sam Anderson, David Tranvik, Ryan Palm, John Duda, Brett Patterson, Will Nelson, Jacob Meyers, and John Kernan.  This game also marked the return of top defensemen Patrick Daly.  Patrick has been out since December 15th with a broken leg suffered in the Cretin-Derham Hall game.  Totino-Grace had other ideas for this game and tried to crash the party.  The Eagles are the only team in the North Suburban Conference to have beaten the Red Knights since they have been in the conference.  BSM came into the contest with an overall conference record of 64 - 3 - 0, but a record against Totino-Grace of 6 - 3 - 0.

The Eagles got off to a fast start scoring at the 3:38 mark.  Totino increased their led to 2 - 0 with another goal midway through the period on the powerplay.  The first period ended with the Eagles up by 2, even though the Red Knights outshot them 13 - 7.

BSM came out strong in the second period and put a lot of pressure on the Eagles goaltender Nick DeMuth.  The Red Knights put 18 shots on the net and finally broke through at 11:01 of the period on a powerplay goal by Pat Steinhauser, with the assists going to Patrick Daly and Brett Patterson.  The second period ended with the Eagles clinging to a 2 - 1 lead.

The Red Knights dominated play in the third period and time was winding down with BSM unable to get the equalizer.  Totino had a couple of great chances and also a powerplay opportunity, but the Red Knights killed off the penalty, and Jacob Meyers made a few key saves.  Their efforts paid off as Will Nelson finally was able to beat the Eagle goalie on a turnover with only 2:02 left in regulation from Dan Pemberton and John Duda.  The game would go to overtime tied at 2.

Jacob Meyers again came up with a couple of key saves and the game ended in a 2 - 2 tie.  The Red Knights remained unbeaten in conference play and will complete their conference schedule when they take on Joey Benik and St. Francis on Tuesday at East Bethel.
