BSM finishes conference play unbeaten, led by Pat Steinhauser's 4 assists

The Red Knights concluded their conference schedule and remained unbeaten by defeating St. Francis 6 - 1 on Senior Night up in East Bethel.  BSM was one face-off draw away from keeping top scoring Joey Benik off the score sheet, something that has not been done all season.  The Red Knight defense held Benik to just one assist, only the third time this season that he has not scored a goal in a game.

There was no scoring in the first period, although the Red Knights outshot the Saints 13 - 6.  As was the case in their first meeting, St. Francis would draw first blood by scoring on the power play early in the second period.  BSM answered back 3 minutes later on a goal by Will Nelson from a nice feed from Pat Steinhauser, the first of his 4 assists on the night.  Patrick Steinhauser and Will Nelson then set up Dan Pemberton a few minutes later to put BSM ahead to stay.  Will Nelson added another goal in the last minute of the period from Jake Horton and Pat Steinhauser to give the Red Knights a 3 - 1 lead after 2 periods.  The late goal seemed to take the fight out of the Saints in the third period.

BSM added 2 more goals in the first 3 minutes of the third period to put the game away from John Duda and Grant Besse, with assists going to David Tranvik, Sam Anderson, Christian Horn, and Brett Patterson.  Brett Patterson got the final goal of the night at the 6:29 mark, assisted by Pat Steinhauser and Jake Horton.  The Red Knights outshot the Saints 56 - 18 for the game.  Jacob Meyers had a solid game in net to earn the victory.

The Red Knights will finish their regular season schedule on Friday night when they host Holy Angels at the SLP Rec Center.
