Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys' Hockey

The Red Knights were oh so close to a 20 win season.  They seemed to have the game in hand with just over 3 1/2 minutes left to play.  BSM was holding a 5 - 2 lead when Holy Angels struck for 3 goals in a 1:21 span to tie the game, and the game ended in a 5 - 5 tie.  The Red Knights finished the season with a 19 - 5 - 1 record, still an impressive season.

BSM opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the contest on an unassisted goal by Dominic Burg.  After the Stars tied the game, the Red Knights responded on a shot by Michael Blessing, with assists going to Ryan Lawyer and Ryan Minkoff.  Michael Blessing's second goal of the period put BSM up 3 - 1, with Joe Haselman and Ryan Lawyer getting the assists.  Gabe MacDonald added a goal before the end of the period on a feed from Ned Nelson.  The Red Knights had a 4 - 1 lead going into the first intermission and seemed to be in control of the game.

In the second period, the teams traded goals.  After an early goal by Holy Angels, the Red Knights scored with just 4 seconds left in the period on a shot by Dominic Burg, with the assists going to Ryan Minkoff and Taylor Topousis.

The third period was just moving along until Holy Angels struck with their 3 goal outburst.  Neither team was able to get the game winner in overtime.  BSM outshot Holy Angels 48 - 21 for the game.

The Red Knights had a very strong season, and they will have much to build on for next season.
