BSM didn't get the bounces and hit 2 posts in loss

The Red Knights knew that they had a big task in front of them in taking on the #1 ranked team in the state in Minnetonka.  They also knew that they could play with anyone this season.  Although BSM played a strong game, it wasn't enough as Minnetonka came away with the 3 - 1 victory.

The teams played a scoreless first period, with the Skippers having a 9 - 7 shot advantage.  Jacob Meyers made a couple of key saves near the end of the period to preserve the scoreless tie heading into the first intermission.

Minnetonka got on the board first at the 2:45 mark of the second period on a goal by Erik Basken.  Both teams traded scoring chances with both goaltenders standing tall.  T.J. Moore had Skippers net minder Jim Kruger beat, but his shot hit off the post and crossbar.  It looked as though Minnetonka would head into the third period holding a slim 1 - 0 lead.  Unfortunately, with only 48 seconds left in the period, Derek Frawley was able to find the back of the net with an important goal to give the Skippers a 2 - 0 advantage after 2 periods.

The Red Knights came out in the third period knowing the season was on the line.  BSM had a golden opportunity to cut into the Minnetonka lead when Skipper forward Connor Ryan was whistled for a 5 minute major for checking from behind.  Unfortunately, the Red Knights were only able to muster 4 shots on net during the man advantage.  Throughout the period, both teams had scoring chances, and again BSM couldn't catch a break when Patrick Steinhauser's shot hit the post and stayed out of the net.  With the Red Knights trying to kill off a penalty, Minnetonka increased their lead to 3 - 0 on a goal by senior Max Gardiner.  BSM responded with 2:40 remaining in the game on an unassisted goal by Pat Steinhauser.  The Red Knights would not get any closer.  Shots for the game were 27 - 24 in favor of Minnetonka.

BSM ended the season with a record of 17 - 7 - 3, and again won the North Suburban Conference going unbeaten in conference play.  Grant Besse lead the team in goals with 30, Christian Horn lead the team in assists with 35, and Patrick Steinhauser lead the team in total points with 57.  Jake Horton lead the team in +/- at + 30.  The future looks bright for the Red Knights as they can build on the success of this season as they prepare for next season.
