Formed Red Knight blueliner named defenseman of the week.

Ben Newhouse earned the USHL's defenseman of the week honor after leading Waterloo to a pair of wins last week.

Former Benilde-St. Margaret's captain and four-year letter-winner Ben Newhouse has been named the CCM Defenseman of the Week by the United States Hockey League.

Newhouse registered two assists with a +4 rating in a 4-1 win, Saturday, over Tri-City. He also picked up another assist against Tri-City the night before in a 3-2 Waterloo win.

After playing three games for the Blackhawks in 2014 and 10 games in 2015 following the completion of the Red Knight seasons, he is in his first full season in Waterloo. Newhouse has five points in 10 games to tie for 13th among league defensemen in scoring. He also boasts a +10 rating.

During his four-year BSM career, Newhouse scored 17 goals and 92 points in 112 games. He was +86 and scored nine power-play goals.
