Benilde-St. Margaret's career scoring leader, Troy Riddle, returns to the Red Knight fold this season as an assistant coach.
His primary focus with BSM will be coaching the forward but he will assist with all aspects of the team.
"We really believe that Troy gives our coaching staff an added dimension," Red Knight head coach Ken Pauly said. "He has played at some of the highest levels of hockey and the tips and advice that he can offer our players will be invaluable."
Riddle's playing career included four years at the University of Minnesota, where he was a part of two national championships as well as serving as a team captain as a senior, and six professional seasons.
While at BSM, Riddle set scoring records for goals in a season (54) and career (87), and points in a season (99) and career (167), doing so in just two seasons.
His 99-point season came in his final season at BSM and led the Red Knights to the 1999 state Class A title.
"He helped put BSM on the map," Pauly said. "He was the most electrifying player this program has ever seen. It’s clear that he loves Red Knight Hockey and this school — it’s pretty cool to see him come back.
"Like all of us, he is focused on getting this program back to St. Paul and hanging another state championship banner.
"It was great being his teacher and coach, but I consider him a great friend as well. It will be fun to work with him."
