Papetti scores twice in Red Knight victory

Robert Papetti scored twice and Paul Lundberg stopped 19 shots as the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity opened the 2010-11 season with a 7-3 win over St. Cloud Tech.

Papetti's unassisted goal, just one minute, 35 seconds into the game, kicked off a four-goal first period for the Red Knights, who scored three goals in the game's first 4:41 as Dominic Burg and Tanner Ahlborn followed with goals.

The Tigers scored twice in the final three minutes of the second period, cutting BSM's lead in half, before Papetti's goal at 3:14 of the final period made it a three-goal game.

St. Cloud Tech cut the lead to two goals once again but Robert Lance and Andrew Krough scored in the game's final two minutes to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Lundberg turned in a solid, 19-save performance in his debut as a Red Knight.

BSM returns to action Saturday, when it hosts Hill-Murray at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center. Game time is slated for 12:30 p.m.
