Minnetonka hands BSM JV five-goal loss

Third-period collapse dooms Red Knights.

Minnetonka scored four goals in a span of less than five minutes in the third period, turning a one-goal lead into an 8-3 rout of Benilde-St. Margaret's.

The teams traded goals through the first half of the contest as the Skippers got on the scoreboard first but Dominic Burg evened the game with one minute, 36 seconds remaining in the opening period.

The Skippers regained the lead just 16 seconds later but Michael Nanne once again evened the scored at 8:18 of the second period.

Minnetonka again responded quickly, taking the lead for good just 26 seconds later and a goal 18 second into the third period but the Skippers ahead by two goals.

A Joe Haselman power-play goal cut the led to one goal at 3:31 of the final period but, 38 seconds later, Minntonka restored the two-goal lead, starting their four-goal run, two of which came on the power play, to turn the game into a blowout.

BSM returns to action Tuesday for their final game before the Christmas break as the Red Knights are at Maple Grove for a 5:30 p.m. game.
