Maple Grove scores three consecutive goals to overcome BSM.

Maple Grove scored three consecutive goals, after falling behind early in the second period, and downed Benilde-St. Margaret's, 4-3.

The loss was the second consecutive loss for the Red Knights, who had not lost back-to-back contests since Jan. 13-18 when they lost 2-1 at Hibbing and 3-2 versus Hill-Murray.

After giving up the only goal of the first period, BSM bounced back quickly in the second period as Seth Chumley scored just 38 seconds into the middle stanza and Brooks Rennie put the visitors ahead 42 seconds later.

However, the Crimson would tie the score on a Mitch Bauer goal 6:36 of the second period and Austin Hauser's tally 1:41 into the final period put the hosts ahead for good.

Chris Freemark added a much-needed insurance goal for Maple Grove when he scored on the power play with 3:29 to play in the game.

The goals enabled the Crimson to hold onto the lead when Lucas Dickison scored with 1:12 to play while the Red Knights pulled goalie Paul Lundberg for an extra attacker.

Shots on goal in the game were even, 18-18, with Lundberg making 14 saves for BSM.

The Red Knights return to action next Tuesday when they take part in the Holiday Hockey Classic at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center. BSM takes on Eden Prairie at 10 a.m. in a quarterfinal contest.
