Moore, Labosky account for all three BSM goals.

T.J. Moore and Dan Labosky each had a goal and two assists as Benilde-St. Margaret's claimed the consolation title of the Holiday Hockey Classic with a 3-2 win over Centennial.

After a scoreless first period, Moore set up Labosky with the game's first goal, four minutes, 30 seconds into the second period and did the same for Chris Flood less than four minutes later.

With 9:12 to play in the contest, Moore notched his third goal of the season to give the Red Knights a 3-0 lead which appeared to be more than enough.

The Cougars came back, however, scoring a 5-on-3 power-play goal with 4:42 to play in the game and added an extra-attacker goal with 1:23 to play before BSM held on for the win.

Red Knight goalie Anders Jecha rebounded from his loss, Tuesday, to Eden Prairie. The BSM netminder stopped 24 of 26 shots in garnering his fifth win of the season.

Although happy with the win, his team's eighth in nine games this season, Red Knight head coach Ken Pauly noted some concerns after the game.

“Considering our anemic performance on the power play and our penchant for penalties, it’s incredible that we stand at 8-1-0 right now," he said after his team went 0-for-6 with the man advantage. "The frustrating thing about the holiday break is that it is more games than practices and the things that we need to fix can only be done in practice right now. You can’t tweak your power play in the middle of a three-day tournament.

“If we would have converted on just one of our power-play chances against Centennial we would have won that game by a huge margin. Instead, we had  to hang on to win by a goal. We have too much talent for the power play to continue to struggle. We will get it fixed.”

On the positive side, Pauly noted the play of Moore and Labosky.

"Those two really played very well the last two games," he said. "They were without their linemate, Jake O’Borsky, and both of those players really picked up the slack.”

BSM returns to action, Tuesday, with a North Suburban Conference game against Robbinsdale Cooper. The opening faceoff at the St. Louis Park Rec Center is slated for 7 p.m.
