Red Knights use 72-shot barrage to rout Orioles

BSM tallies 12-0 win over St. Louis Park.

Benilde-St. Margaret's outshot St. Louis Park 72-9, tallying 35 shots in the first period, en route to a 12-0 win.

It took the Red Knights nearly 10 minutes to get on the scoreboard but, after Pat Steinhauser broke the ice for the home team, 11 goals would come in less than 24 minutes.

For the second time this season, Grant Besse scored three goals in a period. He scored an even-strength goal, one minutes, two seconds into the second period, added a short-handed goal just over four minutes later and tallied on the power play with 6:23 showing on the clock.

He also recorded an assist and had 12 shots on goal, single handedly outshooting St. Louis Park.

Patrick Daly contributed four assists in the win while Steinhauser and Dan Labosky both had two goals and an assist.

Chris Flood, with a goal and two assists, also had a three-point nights, as did T.J. Moore, while Jake O'Borsky had a goal and an assists and Mike Blessing and Tyler Ellegard each had two assists.

Dominic Burg scored his first varsity goal with 20 seconds to play in the second period.

Justin Quale recorded a pair of firsts in picking up his fifth win of the season. The nine-save effort was his first career shutout and he collected an assist on Steinhauser's third-period goal for his first career point.

With the four-point win, the Red Knights regain a share of first place in the North Suburban Conference. BSM is on the road Tuesday for another conference affair, travelling to the Schwan's Super Rink for a 7:30 p.m. tilt with Irondale.
