Horton's hat trick paces Red Knights in rout of Irondale.

Defenseman Jake Horton recorded a hat trick and Benilde-St. Margaret's posted its third double-digit win of the season by routing Irondale, 11-0.

Horton had his three goals barely five minutes into the second period, getting the game's first tally just one minute, 22 seconds into the contest. He added a power-play goal with 2:39 to play in the opening period and his third goal, also a power-play tally, came at 5:09 of the second period.

Pat Steinhauser had a goal and three assists, along with a game-high seven shots on goal, while Patrick Daly contributed four assists to the win.

Lucas Dickison and Joe Haselman, both of whom had a goal and an assist, scored their first varsity goals and Vince Beacom's assist on Dickison's goal was his first career point.

Tyler Ellegard also scored a pair of goals and Patrick Graham also notched his first goal of the season as Red Knight defensemen contributed six of the team's 11 goals.

Anders Jecha needed to make just 10 saves, as BSM had a 54-10 advantage in shots on goal, to record his seventh win and third shutout of the season.

The Red Knights are in action again Saturday for another North Suburban Conference game when they face Totino-Grace in a matinee, starting at 3:15 p.m. at Parade Ice Gardens.
