Beacom highlights Senior Day with three-point outing.

Benilde-St. Margaret's snapped its two-game losing streak with a dominating performance, handing Irondale a 9-0 loss on Senior Day.

Vince Beacom, one of six senior players honored on the day, notched his first career goals and added two assists in the win to cap the game for the Red Knights.

"Clearly, the highlight for the entire team was when Vince Beacom scored his first varsity goal," BSM head coach Ken Pauly said. "Vince is one of the most honest workers on the team and he plays hard every chance he has. To see him rewarded tonight with a multiple-point game was fun for everyone to see – and it was well deserved."

Beacom assisted on Jake Horton's second-period power-play goal and set up Patrick Graham's power-play tally in the third period. He then finished the scoring by notching his first career goal with 2:48 to play in the game.

Christian Horn turned in a five-point performance on the day. His 11th goal of the season started the scoring, four minutes, one second into the contest. He then set up Pat Steinhauser for a pair of goals, which made the score 3-0 and went on to add two more assists.

Besides Steinhauser, defensemen Horton and Graham both tallied a pair of goals and all three added an assist on the day.

"Patrick Graham had a good game in all three zones today," Pauly said of his sophomore blueliner. "He really appears to be growing confidence with each passing week."

BSM's power play, which failed to click on five chances over the last two losses, went 4-for-6 against the Knights and is now 27-for-50 (54.0 percent) over the last 12 games. Both of Horton's goals came on the power play as did one each for Steinhauser and Graham.

After being able to only muster two goals in the last two games, Pauly said it was good for his team to put some pucks in the net.

"We ran into a hot goalie on Tuesday and Shattuck’s goalie made some big saves to keep us off the board as well," he said. "Only scoring two goals in our last two games has been very frustrating for the guys so it was nice to see us get that scoring groove back tonight."

The North Suburban Conference win sets up a showdown for the league title Thursday. The Red Knights will host Totino-Grace, which they trail by two points in the conference standings, Thursday at 7 p.m. in the NSC finale for both teams.

BSM won all five conference titles since becoming a member of the conference in 2005-06. The Red Knights have shared two of those championships with Totino-Grace.
