Seven players tally goals in victory over Stars.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Tenth-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's didn't waste its chance to perform at the newest hockey venue in the Twin Cities.

Facing fellow Section 6AA member Holy Angels, the Red Knights got goals from seven different plays, points for 13 players and posted a 7-1 win over the Stars at the Minnesota Wild team facility, the TRIA Rink, in downtown St. Paul.

BSM struck early when Blake Mesenburg buried a Nate Schweitzer feed on an odd-man rush just four minutes, nine seconds into the contest.

Holy Angels would tied the game with six minutes to play in the opening period but Mesenburg's pass through the Stars' slot, which was tipped by Jonah Mortenson, wound up on the stick of Adam Marshall, who buried a shot from the left circle with 42.4 seconds to play in the opening frame.

Blake Mesenburg scored a goal and helped set up two others.

Carson Limesand stopped a dozen shots and also recorded an assist.

The Red Knights dominated the game, outshooting Holy Angels 15-6 in the opening period and 38-16 for the game.

BSM began to put the game away in the second period, beginning when Charlie Bischel picked up a loose puck in the neutral after coming out of his own zone.

He circled towards the right-wing boards and scooted up the wing before cutting to the net, putting one final deke on a Holy Angels defender, before finding the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season just 4:50 into the middle stanza.

Less than four minutes later, Seamus Foley made a pass from his blueline, through the neutral zone, and found Charlie Warnert on the right side.

Warnert then entered the zone, wound his way through to the middle and took the puck to the net, scoring from just outside the top of the crease.

BSM would take a four-goal lead into the final period after a save by Carson Limesand. He pushed the puck to Foley who moved the puck to Jackson Bisson coming up the left-wing boards.

Bisson then proceeded to go end-to-end before cutting to the net and scoring with 1:57 to play to give his team a 5-1 lead.

BSM would take a 6-1 lead at 5:11 of the third period when Mortenson pushed the puck up the left wing, while falling down, to Mesenburg. The Red Knight scoring-leader made a perfect pass through the slot on a 2-on-1 to Jett Johnson, who buried the puck for his seventh goal of the season.

Less than two minutes later, the game went into running time when Nate Schweitzer end the Red Knights' three-game power-play scoring drought, blasting a puck from the middle of the blue line through traffic for his seventh goal.

After making 12 saves in just over 39 minutes of work, Limesand gave way to Jonnie Vitelli, who came off the bench for the second game in a row. He stopped all three shots he faced in 11:24 of work.

The Red Knights will enjoy a week off from play before trying to avenge their lone loss of the Metro West Conference season, facing Bloomington Jefferson in a 7 p.m. game, Saturday, at the Bloomington Ice Garden.
